Why Give
The Fogarty Institute is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization funded entirely by private donations. We have been fortunate to receive generous contributions from many donors during our first few years, and we hope that our early success will spur additional support. Of course, it takes significant resources and money to fuel our innovative programs, so we welcome gifts of all sizes. Tax deductible gifts can be made by using the paypal button on the right, by sending or wiring funds directly to the Institute, or with stock.

Instructions for Donations of Stock
Our broker can assist you in making a gift of stock via a direct transfer to the Fogarty Institute for Innovation. Giving a gift of publicly traded stock that you have owned for more than one year may provide greater tax benefits than giving cash. Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you may avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock. You may also save by not incurring brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock. You should confer with your Broker and Financial Advisor for the latest rules and regulations.
